THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Rooms Operations Manager, the
Valet Parking Attendant
is responsible for parking and retrieving guest automobiles, providing exceptional service according to hotel and Marriott service standards. Responsibilities will include:
Provide a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors and guests entering the circular driveway and/or hotel entrance.
Open vehicle/taxi doors for guests arriving at the hotel.
Remove all items of luggage from the guest vehicle, calling a Lobby Service Associate for delivery.
Drive vehicles to designated valet area, ensuring vehicle is left secure, with all doors locked.
Direct traffic on the circular driveway to ensure smooth flow and no obstructions.
Record parking spots, placing guests' keys/fobs in the locked valet key box.
Retrieve vehicles when guests are ready to leave, ensuring vehicle is warmed up, defrosted and wiped clear of snow in the winter.
Report any unusual occurrences in the valet area to the manager on duty.
Arrange taxis/ubers for guests and visitors as requested.
Monitor and maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the hotel entrance and circular driveway area.
Ensure adherence to the Hotel's policy regarding security of keys/fobs.
Know all safety and emergency procedures relevant to the valet area, providing support as per the Emergency Response Plan.
Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager on duty.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
Maintain a professional image at all times.
Project an enthusiastic, optimistic, helpful attitude.
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by department heads/senior managers.
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE:
A minimum of 1 year of experience parking cars, preferably in a hotel setting or related hospitality operation.
Post-secondary education in hospitality or a related field an asset.
Must have a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license.
Must be able to provide a clean driver's abstract.
Must be able to operate both manual and automatic vehicles.
Knowledge of how to use equipment such as booster cables an asset.
Must be able to work within a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to effectively communicate in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and ensure efficient service.
Ability to stand or walk for an extended period of time.
Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance.
Ability to handle extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, ice or snow.
Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends & public holidays. Hours of work will be scheduled based on business volumes/operational demands and will vary.
First Aid certification an asset.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
