Job Description


The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority is seeking an experienced, innovative, and self-motivated individual to join its dynamic Information Technology Branch as a permanent full-time Technical Analyst (Network).Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, the Technical Analyst provides tier 2 technical support, with the primary focus on SLGA\xe2\x80\x99s network infrastructure, as well as secondary support of client, server, printer, and peripheral hardware and software. This position receives direction from both the IT Technical Supervisor and Network Architect and is responsible for following Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based support processes. The core functions of the job include: the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all network hardware and software; technical support for network and tier 2 escalation for Service Desk incidents and requests. The Technical Analyst is required to work with other teams and business areas when network related issues and projects are brought forward.Core Competencies (Job Family \xe2\x80\x93 Technical)

Job Duties
  • Install, configure, coordinate, and administer SLGA\xe2\x80\x99s network environment
  • Tier II escalation for the service desk analysts to provide resolution or assistance on incidents that cannot be resolved at first level support
  • Provide technical support for deskside and related systems/peripherals within SLGA including software and hardware problem determination and resolution. Consults with other information technology resources as required
  • Remotely support Saskatoon office, Project office (park street Regina), our Distribution Centre, and our co-location data center at SaskTel\xe2\x80\x99s Lorne St. location
  • Performs monitoring and testing of network systems and elements to ensure reliability and integrity of computer environments
  • Perform system maintenance and network upgrades
  • Investigate and remediates vulnerabilities with network hardware and software
  • Enhance and develop quality support methods and communication skills through coaching feedback and other developmental approaches
  • Research, resolve, and respond to questions received via telephone and email, while returning calls in a timely manner in accordance with current standards
  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge of relevant product offerings and support policies to provide accurate technical solutions
Required Technical Knowledge and Qualifications
  • A post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in networking from a recognized educational institution
  • Minimum of 2 \xe2\x80\x93 4 years direct work experience in networking
  • Relevant and recent network certifications in CompTIA Network+, Cisco, F5 and Fortinet are an asset.
  • Ability to write detailed technical materials, diagnose technical problems and execute technical instructions
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking components including switches, routers, wireless controllers, and wireless technologies are required to provide, support, troubleshoot, and improve network services
  • Knowledge of F5 web application firewall (WAF)
  • Knowledge of FortiGate firewalls, IPS and VPN
  • Knowledge of Web Proxies
  • Knowledge of ITIL v4 processes and procedures
  • Ability to accurately and within established timelines enter, update, maintain, retrieve, print, transmit, and apply information using a variety of computer hardware and software to generate reports and create documents
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex network problems
  • Ability to create a technical plan, testing strategies, and provide solid, risk-free changes and upgrades for network software and hardware
