Job Title: UX Designer
Department: IT
Competition: 85788

Employment Type: Full Time Permanent
Location: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland, Quebec, Ontario - Remote
Salary: Comprehensive Compensation
Reports To: Team Lead

The Opportunity:

We\'re looking for an insightful and analytical UX designer for a 14-month term to help us create incredible user experiences.

As part of our Digital Transformation Office, you\'ll work with a cross-functional group of UX professionals focused on creating meaningful experiences for people. As UX designer, your job will be to turn business and user requirements into plans for intuitive, accessible and engaging web pages, websites, and applications. You\'ll be responsible for user flows, information architecture, interaction design, UI layout, visual design and more.

This might be a good role for you if:

Your creativity is grounded in deep analysis: you have great ideas, but they\'re backed by research and testing.

You understand people: you have an interest in consumer behaviour, psychology and sociology.

You have a user-centric mindset: your own preferences don\'t matter-nor do anyone else\'s, other than the person at the other end of the screen.

You\'ve got high standards and an objective approach: you\'re unafraid to be merciless with your own work if something has been proven not to work.

You\'re driven and adaptable: you see challenges as puzzles to be solved, not roadblocks, and aren\'t flustered by rapidly changing requirements and priorities.

You\'re curious and self-motivated: you can figure out what needs to be done-and then do it.

Your everyday with us will consist of:

Working primarily in an Agile environment to design experiences for new digital products or enhancements to existing ones.

Collaborating with a wide cross-section of colleagues to understand user wants and needs, business objectives, and technical considerations.

Translating ideas and concepts into user flow diagrams, site maps, sketches, wireframes, interactive prototypes, style guides/libraries, and other UX design deliverables.

Ensuring usability by validating work through remote prototype testing and other research methods, and iterating based on results.

Working with front-end developers to explain and fine-tune designs, and providing design review through the dev cycle.

Assessing digital properties to propose UX changes and identify areas to target for A/B testing or further research.

Presenting your work to colleagues and leaders in meetings and demos, and confidently explaining decisions using UX best practice rationale or research data.

Assisting with implementation of your designs using our website CMS.

What you need to succeed:

Proven experience in UX design for software, websites and web/mobile applications (portfolio required).

Post-secondary degree in applicable field.

High proficiency with wireframing tools as well as Photoshop, Illustrator and associated design apps.

Thorough understanding of user-centered design methodologies, design thinking, and other standard UX principles and practices.

Understanding of responsive design, designing for accessibility, and standard iOS/Android design patterns.

Familiarity with usability testing and A/B testing platforms is a plus.

Please provide a portfolio of recent work for websites or other digital formats.
