We are seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined
Utility Person
to join our plastics manufacturing team. This hands-on role is essential to supporting both the maintenance and production departments by assisting in the upkeep of equipment, helping operators with mold changes, and addressing basic mechanical and operational issues on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
Support production staff by helping to perform mold changes, set-ups, and changeovers in a safe and efficient manner.
Respond to basic mechanical or process-related issues alongside machine operators.
Ensure tools and equipment are ready and available for mold changes and maintenance tasks.
Perform minor repairs or adjustments under the guidance of a technician or supervisor.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe by following 5S and housekeeping standards.
Log completed tasks and observations in maintenance records.
Actively participate in troubleshooting equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, as well as plant policies and procedures.
Provide coverage for operators as needed, including during breaks or absences.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; plastics industry preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of industrial machinery.
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities across maintenance and production areas.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
Assets (Preferred but Not Required):
Experience in mold changes or working with injection or blow molding equipment.
Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical systems.
Forklift certification or experience.
