The Town of Woodstock is recruiting to fill an existing vacancy within our Utility Department. We are looking for a skilled and motivated
Utility Supervisor
to oversee daily operations of water, sewer, wastewater, and municipal utilities. If you're a problem-solver who thrives on keeping essential services running smoothly, this is your chance to make a direct impact on the quality of life in our community.
The Utility Supervisor will work collaboratively with the other leaders in the Utility and Public Works departments and alongside an experienced crew of Operators to plan and execute work projects in a safe and efficient manner. This role is integral the successful operation and maintenance of the Town's critical infrastructure related to water supply, distribution, sewage and water/wastewater treatment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prior experience (3-5 years) in a supervisory role is preferred
Demonstrated ability to supervise work crews ideally in a unionized environment, or a municipality/facility with a water or water distribution system and/or sewage treatment plant
Post high school training or education in the water or wastewater field, engineering or related science; preferably a journeyperson in New Brunswick within the water and wastewater operator occupation
Previous construction/project site management experience
Experience using SCADA systems and GIS software is an asset
Well-developed technical and mechanical aptitude with strengths in troubleshooting and equipment repairs (such as fire hydrants, water mains and valves)
Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Working proficiency in MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Desire to lead and support a safety-first culture with relevant occupational health and safety training certification (excavation & trenching, traffic control, confined space awareness and rescue and fall protection) or willingness to be trained as necessary
Organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and direct work teams and multiple project sites
Strong, communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Experience using SCADA systems and GIS software
Working knowledge of fire hydrants, water mains and valve operations, repairs, and replacements
Willingness to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
