The City of Port Moody is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working individual to fill a regular full-time position on the Utilities crew.
The Utility Maintenance Worker II will be responsible for performing water distribution and wastewater collection system maintenance, monitoring, upgrades and installations. This position will monitor regulations and standards, quality control and quality assurance practices and reporting.
Duties include: installing backflow prevention devices and pipe, operating power generating equipment, monitoring and evaluating chlorine disinfection, taking pressure and meter readings and performing hydrant, valve, pump and PRV maintenance and repairs including leak detection and uni-directional flushing. The Utility Maintenance Worker II will also coordinate traffic control and provide training and instruction to departmental staff.
Basic Qualifications:
Grade 12 plus a minimum of six months of technical or community college education
EOCP Level II Operator Water Distribution, Level II Operator Wastewater Collection, and Cross Connection Control Testers' Certification
Three years of job related experience in water distribution and wastewater collection, including experience with calibration, diagnostics and troubleshooting of utilities systems
Experience in facility operation, maintenance and security, including start up and shut down procedures
A valid Class 3 BC driver's license with air endorsement
Sound knowledge of the utility infrastructure and functions of an Operations Department
Knowledge of principles of measurement, testing instruments and sampling procedures and requirements
Knowledge of pipe materials, size and type and of pipefitting and joining methods
Ability to perform a variety of maintenance duties
Ability to read and interpret plans and specs
Thorough understanding of related equipment and ability to perform basic repairs
Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform manual work outdoors
Ability to work effectively with co-workers and members of the public
