The District of Kent is offering an exciting opportunity in our Engineering Services Department for a Utility Assistant / Labourer 2.

This key role assists the Utilities Supervisor in the efficient operation and maintenance of municipal water and wastewater facilities and systems in accordance with established policies, practices and procedures. The incumbent will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks as assigned by the Utilities Supervisor or designate. Tasks range from general labouring work involving non- or semi- skilled duties to the operation of municipal power tools.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Grade 12 diploma or proven equivalent.
• Operator in Training Certification in accordance with the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP).
• Course completion in equipment operation or combination of related training and experience preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years experience in the Public Works construction and maintenance field.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence, Class 5 (Class 3 with air endorsement preferred).

The wage rate for this bargaining unit position is $27.64 per hour. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $32.52 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
