Safehaven Care Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team and improve the lives of the children we work with. In this role, you will coordinate occupational therapy services and contribute to a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to client care. You will play a pivotal role in making day-to-day decisions, guiding team members on diverse complex cases (such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, and other diverse needs), and ensuring therapy practices align with professional standards and regulations.
This position emphasizes delivering evidence-based interventions tailored to individual client needs, fostering independence, and enabling meaningful participation in self-care, productivity, and leisure activities. It also involves program development, operational planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience in case management, pediatrics, and community care settings. This role includes conducting comprehensive assessments, creating individualized treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions to enhance clients' ability to perform daily activities and achieve greater independence. You will work closely with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal care outcomes and well-being.
Assessment and Planning:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' abilities and develop individualized therapy plans.
Identify specific goals to enhance functional skills, mobility, and overall quality of life.
Therapeutic Intervention:
Deliver evidence-based interventions targeting fine motor skills, sensory integration, and daily living skills.
Recommend and implement adaptive strategies and assistive devices tailored to clients' needs.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care and progress monitoring.
Family and Support Aide Collaboration:
Provide training and resources to families and support aides to support clients' progress at home and in the community.
Maintain open and supportive communication to address any concerns or adjustments needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with other professionals as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's goals.
Provide therapeutic interventions to improve functional abilities, independence, and quality of life.
To ensure coordinated and client-centered care, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, families, and support aides.
Educate clients and families on therapeutic strategies and techniques to support ongoing development.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client progress and outcomes in alignment with professional standards.
Stay informed about current best practices in occupational therapy and related medical terminology.
Requirements:
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current registration or eligibility for registration with Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Experience in case management, pediatrics, or community care preferred.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and therapeutic principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, families, and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment while maintaining a client-centered approach.

Hourly Rate: $38.50-$58.50/hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Working directly in client homes as a subcontractor.
