The UCC is designed to provide patients timely access to health care for urgent but non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that need care as soon as possible. It will then connect patients to community services within health networks, such as home care, crisis intervention and other avenues of primary health care, if needed. UCC is staffed with a multidisciplinary care team, including mental health professionals, to provide patients better access to urgent medical attention for a variety of needs.The invites applications for the position of Urgent Care Centre Physicians at the new UCC in Regina, Saskatchewan. Be a part of this great new service as it gets underway and help build the rotations!Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine physician at the UCC, will primarily focus to deliver high-quality care to patients with non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries requiring same-day attention, as well as those needing immediate mental health and addictions support. Physician will provide comprehensive medical assessments and treatments in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely and effective care.Additionally, Physician will work within a dedicated Mental Health and Addictions Services area, offering confidential and discreet services, support patient referrals and connect patients to appropriate follow-up services. Physician's role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the UCC, contributing to the overall strategic goals of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and continuously improving patient care and service delivery.The UCC in Regina also see clients whom experience disproportionate health disparity, complex chronic medical and social health concerns and barriers to access.The SHA is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The College has a well-resourced framework across the continuum that results in quality community partnerships, successful and comparable students across all sites, elevated community health, and better graduate retention in communities.Job QualificationsEducation:

  • Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the
(CPSS) * Eligible or certified in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) [CCFP or CCFP(EM)],
  • The physician must be certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or complete these courses within 6 months of start date. Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is desired.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in urgent care or emergency medicine, proficiency in triage, acute care management, and diagnostic procedures is preferred.
  • Experience or interest in providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed care, complex chronic disease management, addictions and supporting the medically and socially vulnerable are considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and engage with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with information technology systems, such as PACS, SCM, and M*Modal will be preferred. SCM training will be provided.
  • Abide by professional standards of practice and licensure.
  • Exemplifies ethical practices, professionalism and personal integrity

  • Is committed to quality, safety and continuous improvement striving towards zero harm

  • Hold appropriate active privileges with the Saskatchewan Health Authority
