Urban Community Relations Team Leader



Regular Full Time Position- Global



Salary - $90,799.44 to $103,686.36 per annum

(35 hrs per week)



POSITION SUMMARY:





Reporting to the Executive Director Staff and Community Relations, the Urban Community Relations Team Leader will provide direction, leadership, guidance, and support to staff within their team; maintain and improve existing service delivery; manage the team's workload distribution; and ensure their staff receive adequate support, as well as any identified training and development to meet their learning and development needs.



The Urban Community Relations Team Leader is responsible to work in collaboration with other teams and baskets within FVACSS and third-party partners using their experience to guide staff in achieving the goals set for each program and challenging their team to push to new heights.



The Urban Community Relations Team Leader will oversee the work of multiple employees/teams that will provide services that include Lats'u:mexw (away from home) coordination, jurisdiction and research work, and urban community engagement work. Responsibilities will span the entire service delivery area from Hope to Langley, as well as working with communities and stakeholders from outside the area to support children and families that are away from home.



The Urban Community Relations Team Leader will ensure that services are delivered accurately and consistent within the CFCSA; An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis Children Youth and Families; Policies and Practice Standards; and the FVACFSS Policies and Procedures Manuals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:



Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, or related social services field (or equivalent work experience). Delegated experience in the province of BC may be an asset Proven experience in community relations, public affairs, or related field, with a strong track record of successful community engagement initiatives Practical knowledge of provincial and federal legislation that mandates the organizations programs and services Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated abilities and experience in developing strong working relationships with Indigenous communities, foster parents, biological parents, and other FVACFSS employees; balancing competing priorities; working under pressure; writing concise reports to various audiences; representing and promoting FVACFSS; and conducting investigations, completing assessments, developing work plans, implementing plans and evaluating intervention success Successful completion of a clear Criminal Record Check. Valid class 5 driver's license required

SKILLS & ABILITIES:



Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous cultural practices and traditions. Knowledge and understanding of the generational impacts of colonization and historical child welfare practices on Indigenous people. Strong research skills to understand Indigenous community needs. Ability to engage with community members to gather insights, foster community involvement in planning processes, and develop strategic plans. Conducting investigations, completing assessments, and evaluating intervention success Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Professional commitment, flexibility, and good problem solving and dispute resolution skills. Understanding the diverse audience and a knowledge of unique challenges faced by FVACFSS. Writing concise reports tailored to various audiences. Developing strong working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders. Balancing competing priorities and working under pressure Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build consensus. Passion for driving impactful change and making a positive impact through urban community planning and research initiatives. Preference may be given to Indigenous candidates as per Section 41 of the Human Rights Code.
