Your Opportunity:AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Clerk who is an integral part of a team that works together to provide safe and respectful care with residents and families within Mackenzie Place, including those individuals admitted to the Specialized Assessment program. The Unit Clerk will have opportunity to work within an environment that is designed to meet the needs of residents who present with a combination of a dementia syndrome and behavioral issues as a result of illness, lifestyle choice and possibly a mental health diagnosis. Under general supervision of the Care Managers and as part of the inter-professional health care team, the Unit Clerk provides receptionist and clerical support to assist in the daily operation of the Enhanced Care Unit (ECU). The Unit Clerk will support daily operations through completion of required payroll and staff scheduling functions, processing of physician orders, ordering of supplies, and communicating with various Alberta Health Services departments. A strong customer service focus is essential. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Additional Required Qualifications:Proficient working with Windows and the Office suite of products, in particular Word/Excel and work with a high degree of accuracy. Preferred Qualifications:Experience with payroll and staff scheduling. Previous experience working with older adults. Previous experience working with older adults having responsive behaviors. Familiarity with applicable collective agreements.
