The Unit Clerk II is an integral part of the Oncology team and provides patient-centered, compassionate care to patients in the Oncology Clinic and Systemic Therapy Suite. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the role is responsible for facilitating patient flow, booking appointments, answering phone calls, registration, file management, orientation of the patient/family to the unit, data collection and procurement of supplies.
Education
Grade 12 or equivalent, post-secondary education preferred.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Recent experience, within 2 years, of working in an oncology or oncology-related clinic.
Knowledge of Cancer Care Ontario reporting preferred.
Public Relations/customer service training preferred.
Successful completion of Cerner training.
Qualifications
Recent experience, within 2 years, of working in an oncology or oncology-related clinic required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in an extremely fast paced environment(s).
Demonstrated ability to accurately type a minimum of 35-40 wpm.
Demonstrated knowledge of procedures, terminology and equipment related to oncology and systemic therapy.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and proven organizational skills.
Demonstrated abilityto work closely with patients and to provide family centered care.
Professional telephone etiquette is mandatory.
Proven innovation in problem solving skills and critical thinking.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent communicationskills, both written and verbal, when dealing with co-workers, other disciplines, other departments, patients/families, family physicians, and external agencies.
Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Demonstrated ability to be receptive to instruction/direction and changes.
Experience in Cerner PM Registration, Cerner Powerchart, Teletracking, ANSOS,, MS Office applications.
Previous experience using Plexxus SAP-SRM requisitioning and troubleshooting an asset.
Good work and attendance record required.
