Your Opportunity:

We require an enthusiastic and experienced Administrative Assistant IV to support the work and the interdisciplinary team for Women\'s Operating Room and the Post Anesthesia Car Unit. Using Connect this position liaises with surgeon\'s offices and multiple departments to ensure correct, efficient and patient centered surgical bookings, schedules and slates. This position also performs multiple clerical, computer, phone and data entry duties. This position may also support payroll, staff scheduling and the preparation of statistical data reports. Central Booking Offices. The Administrative Support IV position works autonomously and collaboratively with the members of the referral and booking teams. The Administrative Support also must possess strong communication skills to ensure contact with patients is handled with tact, diplomacy and patience as many of these patients can be in a stressed and unwell state. Accuracy is required in order to ensure that all information is relayed and understood by patients.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in business administration, medical office assistant), or other related fields. Competent and efficient with Connect Care. Medical Terminology. 2 years of experience in a health care setting. Must have previous booking office scheduling experience. Demonstrate an expertise in Office software, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; and, excellent written and oral communication. Advance knowledge of computer technology and applications Strong grammar and proof-reading skills. Time management with proficient organizational skills. Ability to work and problem solve under minimal supervision. Goal oriented, results driven with high attention to detail. Demonstrates excellence and effectiveness in communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Alberta Health Services systems and processes; general office policies and procedures.
