Your Opportunity:

The Unit Clerk reports directly to the Managers of Day Surgery and provides a variety of clerical duties in outpatient Day Surgery as well as an Inpatient general surgical Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre. This position is primarily responsible for managing information, reception duties, maintaining statistics, processing physician\'s orders, coordination of activities, patient flow and general communication within and outside the Units.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course. Demonstrated high functioning time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions in a demanding environment. Demonstrated positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence. Accuracy and attention to detail is required. Preferred Qualifications:

Three years\' experience as a Unit Clerk in an Acute Care facility and/or outpatient surgical setting desired. Demonstrated proficient computer skills and knowledge of Connect Care preferred.
