Zurich Canada is currently looking for an Underwriter/Senior Underwriter to analyze and underwrite new and renewal business within our Financial Institutions portfolio.
In this role, you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, regularly interacting and facing the market, under limited supervision, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework while ensuring a high-level of service to customers.

What you will do
Use strong analytical skills to manage and develop a portfolio of accounts in accordance with Zurich guidelines.
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
Have a strong broker network, and make broker/customer visits with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
Take a solution-oriented and customer focused approach to foster, develop and maintain a strong network of relationships with our Broker partners and our Customers.
You are expected to cross-sell other lines of business and services to Zurich customers in providing our One-Zurich solution.
Mentor and provide guidance to lower level associates, where appropriate.
Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
Demonstrate continuous learning and curiosity to continue to grow with the Financial Lines team at Zurich and the industry in general.
Develop and lead marketing presentations to new and current brokers.
You are expected to be actively involved in business projects to enhance Zurich's product and service offerings and proactively seek opportunities to improve business processes and value-add for the customers.

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table
Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND
Knowledge of line/s of business and corresponding legal and regulatory guidelines
Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
Bachelors' Degree with 1 or more years' experience in the commercial P&C underwriting area
Strong negotiation skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office skills
In addition, for Quebec candidates:
French language skills
Verbal and written proficiency in the English language is required in order to facilitate communication with internal and external key stakeholders located outside of Quebec (for candidates applying to the Montreal office location).
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Compensation may exceed the range listed based on the evaluation of skillset and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $70,000 to $125,000.
