Opportunity

Under the direction of the Underwriting Manager, the Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting farm and commercial property and casualty risks in line with company guidelines and appetite. The role requires strong judgment, analytical ability, and a commitment to excellent service within the mutual insurance model. The Underwriter works closely with agents, loss prevention, and claims to ensure risks are properly evaluated, priced, and documented to support the company's financial stability.

How You Will Make a Difference

Prepare new policies, renewals, and endorsements for issue. Apply underwriting judgment in line with company policies and reinsurance requirements. Build strong relationships with agents and brokers. Provide timely, clear communication on underwriting decisions. Support agents and brokers with guidance on eligibility, rating, and coverage options. Maintain accurate, compliant underwriting documentation.

Your Path to Success

Post-secondary education in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field. CIP/FCIP completed or in progress. 3-5 years of farm or commercial underwriting experience (mutual experience an asset). Strong knowledge of property, farm, liability, and auto insurance products. Skilled in risk evaluation, rating, and policy interpretation. Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills. Proficiency with insurance systems and Microsoft Office.
