Key Objective:
This position will underwrite Excess & Umbrella business within the Commercial Insurance department for Chubb Canada. This position will principally be responsible for new business production by developing and managing target account lists, visiting brokers, participating in direct presentations and negotiating programs and cross marketing within the Chubb organization. The position will be responsible for driving profitable growth within the Canadian Region and work in collaboration with the Commercial Insurance underwriting teams across the country.
Major Responsibilities:
Focused knowledge and experience in underwriting excess & umbrella business.
Underwriting duties will include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals while actively identifying account rounding opportunities for other Chubb practices.
This position must collaborate with other underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management as necessary.
Strong sales and marketing skills are critical; must be able to demonstrate successful broker management, including building, maintaining, and managing producer and customer relationships.
Ability to identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
Knowledge of marketing principles, pricing/rate strategies and how to apply them to attain underwriting profit.
Candidate must possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, with a solid background in risk analysis.
Candidate must have ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and collaborate with a team of underwriters, claims and loss control personnel.
Knowledge and proficiency with technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies expected.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience
Minimum 4+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on excess liability/ umbrella products.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective relationship management.
Proven capability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Thorough understanding of casualty insurance markets and regulatory requirements.
High degree of integrity, professionalism, and customer-oriented mindset.
Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and strategically, employing measured negotiation skills.
