Summary



We are looking for an Underwriter, Life Insurance to join us at our Toronto office.

Working as part of the team, you will perform a broad range of integral functions in underwriting and policy implementation operations, including processing and managing applications, engaging in direct discussions, scheduling with clients, and following up with medical providers. These activities will collectively drive improved efficiency and accuracy in the administrative work-streams, improving operational performance of the business.

Your role will include, but will not be limited to:

Working as part of the team, following established processes to manage individual life insurance applications based on the planning offered to clients. Collecting and organizing client information prior to application submission to major insurance companies Preparing and submitting client insurance applications Performing client medical pre-screening and pre-application consultations with insurance carriers Tracking completeness of the application files up until the policies are issued and following up with the responsible parties as needed to collect additional information from clients or their doctors and scheduling medical follow-ups Maintaining an up-to-date view of client information

Required Skills or Experience



A higher education degree in business, public administration, actuarial, or a related field Three to five (3-5) years of experience working in life insurance underwriting Good working knowledge in both financial and medical underwriting processes at major Canadian insurance carriers Excellent time management and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail Professional demeanour and a client-centric focus A self-starter with problem-solving initiative, diligence, and an ability to learn quickly

Salary and Benefits



$60,000 - $70,000 base salary with opportunity for a bonus subject to personal and company performance Extended health benefits plan
