Our success is built on strong partnerships with customers, brokers, and referral sources, and we're looking for a Mortgage Underwriter/ Quality Control specialist who shares that commitment. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Underwriter/Quality Control specialist will be the main point of contact until a file is complete and funded, utilizing internal measures of control will be responsible for the review of all mortgage commitment documentation, borrower supporting documentation, legal instructions, to ensure accuracy and satisfaction of mortgage closing conditions.
Skills & Experience
Post secondary education in business or finance
2-3 years working in mortgage administration
Ability to manage risk and compliance and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Works well in a team and has confidence dealing with people and addressing issues.
Sound problem-solving skills
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Review all mortgage commitments; validate all required conditions supplied by mortgage brokers and agents meet company guidelines and policies.
Confirm all mortgage instructions and pre-funding worksheets correspond and comply the with mortgage commitments.
Ensure MIC software data fields are effectively utilized to insure mortgages are effectively coded to satisfy internal monthly margining report activities.
Maintain pipeline and follow up activities with Real Estate Lawyers to effectively insure accurate closing dates.
Follow up with Closing Service Provider/Law Firms for mortgage registration documents on a timely basis to facilitate confirm proper registration of mortgage documentation.
Work closely with Underwriting team to escalate any issues or questions as required.
Ensure files are accurately reviewed and stored/archived to achieve strong Quality Assurance results.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to broker/client service including consideration of all options to ensure files are funded on time.
Back fill the Underwriting team and assist the Director of Underwriting as needed.
Concise attention to detail, organized and the tenacity to complete tasks properly.
