Position Summary:

The Undergraduate Course Assistant in ANAT 316 - Clinical Visceral Human Anatomy is integral in enriching the educational experience by providing hands-on support in the anatomy laboratory. Undergraduate Course Assistants are responsible for delivering weekly in-person laboratory demonstrations to groups of 8-10 students in the anatomy laboratory. Demonstrations and discussions will involve using cadaveric prosections and anatomical models to enhance students' understanding of visceral anatomy. Undergraduate Course Assistants are expected to help design and carry out laboratory activities, fostering discussions on specific regional topics related to human visceral anatomy in parallel with the course curriculum. Undergraduate Course Assistants are expected to actively participate in group meetings, and to uphold the Anatomy Lab Code of Conduct at all times. Undergraduate Course Assistants are required to assist with weekly lab setup, specimen selection and retrieval for presentation to assigned student groups, and, after lab sessions, the proper return of specimens to their designated storage spaces. Undergraduate Course Assistants will also be required to develop and submit practice 'bellringer' questions for the students according to a predetermined schedule (3-4 questions per semester).Labs are scheduled for Thursdays 9:35 am - 11:25 am and Fridays 10:35 am - 12:25 pm.



Qualifications:Must have experience working with human cadaveric samples. Must have previously studied gross anatomy related to the head and neck, thoracic, abdominal and pelvic anatomy, for example through successful completion of ANAT 316, ANAT 214, or another course equivalent. Must have demonstrated leadership skills in guiding undergraduate students to foster a productive and inclusive learning environment. Must have proven organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining accuracy, safety, and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching.Effective communication skills in English (spoken and written) are essential.
