Term:

The Event Crew Volunteer (hereby referred to as the EC) position is a term contract lasting from October, 2023 to December, 2023 with possibility of extension till April 2024

Our Events Crew volunteers are the people that make our events happen. Sign-up to be part of facilitating our Campus Cup dodgeball tournament, our spooky Night At The Horowitz, and more!

Are your friends interested too? With the flexibility to choose your shift times on event days, you and your buddies can be part of the fun together.

As an EC you will work closely with the UASUevents staff team to gain the necessary skills to host the best events on campus. Events Crew Members will help with the setup, execution, and teardown of all major UASU events. The Events Crew Volunteer will primarily focus on the following events: Night At The Horowitz, and Campus Cup. Through becoming an EC you will obtain skills like Event Facilitation, Customer Service, Promotions, Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills.

Time Requirements:

ECs MUST ATTEND PRE-EVENT MEETINGS: ~ 2 HOURS/1 PRIOR TO EVENT & ORIENTATION (~14 HOURS TOTAL)

Night At The Horowitz Responsibilities:

Approximately volunteer (~ minimum 2 hours)

• Run Night At The Horowitz Headquarters & Registration
• Prepare the event materials
• Run Night At The Horowitz
• Facilitate Pumpkin carving
• Facilitate games in SUB Atrium

Campus Cup Responsibilities:

Approximately volunteer (~ minimum 20 hours)

• Run Campus Cup

• Run Campus Cup Headquarters & Registration
• Prepare the gym materials
• Help with a marketing campaign
• Promotional materials, social media engagement, direct engagement
• Gym setup
• Supervising waiver signing
• Host pancake breakfast
• Promote Players Lounge and our other upcoming events
• Serve as a referee
• Cleanup/teardown

General Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create a welcoming atmosphere for all students and volunteers while cultivating a sense of pride in the University of Alberta
• Exceed the expectations of students in their interactions with UASUevents
• Cultivate an experience to all students of the University of Alberta which heightens their satisfaction with Student Life
• Act in a manner that positively reflects the University of Alberta, the Students Union, and UASUevents
• Directly engage with the student body while demonstrating knowledgeability of our events, venues, and partnership opportunities for student groups.
• The EC is to attend all scheduled events and their relevant training.

Qualifications:

• Must be a University of Alberta student.
• Excellent communication (both written and oral), and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness and ability to volunteer varying hours.
• Ability to work in an unbiased and impartial manner.
• Experience with and understanding of event volunteering is an asset.

Event Crew Volunteers will walk away from this volunteer experience with the necessary skills to independently host and assist large-scale events.

The review of applications will start on September 5th, 2023 and end on October 6th, 2023.
