Job Description

OnCourse Education, a registered private secondary school and learning center in Hamilton, is currently accepting applications for qualified tutors/teachers to provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring support to secondary school students, with the possibility of also teaching high school credits. Our secondary school tutors/teachers help students in Grades 9 - 12 develop learning independence and help individuals reach, and exceed, their academic goals.

At present, OnCourse is looking for

High School Math and Science Tutors/Teachers

to assist with one or more of secondary level

Maths (including Data Management), Biology, Chemistry and/ or Physics.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who wish to gain experience in an educational setting and work with youth on a part-time basis. Those genuinely interested in helping students build skills and confidence and helping students better understand themselves as learners will find this a rewarding experience.

Responsibilities and Duties



Providing academic support to students requiring help with high school math and science courses including advanced functions, calculus, data management, and/or chemistry and/or physics Possible teaching of senior math and/or science credits at the senior high school level (Grades 11-12). This function includes training and support, but previous experience is preferred. Ability to tutor Statistics and/or Data Management is an asset Completing quarterly reports on student progress Liaising with Program Director regarding resources, teaching strategies and progress Informing individualized program design and providing regular feedback on the success of the program

Qualifications and Skills



Excellent command of the English language both written and oral Knowledge of the Ontario school curriculum and expected outcomes for students at the secondary level Previous experience teaching high school credits is an asset Functional computer skills, including use of Apple and MS platform devices Excellent communication skills Flexible availability including

at minimum

2 afternoons and/or evenings per week Ability to attend in-person tutoring classes at the center Friendly, with a positive attitude and a willingness to help students meet and exceed their potential Previous Special Education experience and/or experience working with students with learning challenges and learning disabilities not essential, but considered an asset Currently, we are holding both in-person (at the centre) and online tutoring classes.
