About the Renewed Families Initiative


The Renewed Families Initiative, operated by Renew Supervision Services, provides specialized supports for children, youth, and families who benefit from additional academic, therapeutic, and community-based assistance. Working in collaboration with child welfare agencies, mental health services, and community partners, the program focuses on stability, connection, and helping young people reach their potential.

Position Overview


We are seeking an engaging and adaptable High School Tutor to provide academic support in both Math and English to two youth within our care. The tutor will play a key role in identifying learning gaps, building academic confidence, and helping students re-engage with their education. Some sessions will be conducted individually, while others may involve both students together.

Key Responsibilities



Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in Math and English for high school-aged youth. Assess academic strengths, learning gaps, and individual learning styles to tailor instruction. Develop and deliver creative, engaging lessons that adapt to each student's needs and promote meaningful learning. Use differentiated instruction strategies to ensure accessibility and success for all learners. Collaborate with students' school teachers and the Renew team to support academic goals and consistency in learning. Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and engagement. Maintain a supportive, patient, and encouraging learning environment.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree or current enrolment in a postsecondary program related to Education, English, Mathematics, or a related field. Experience tutoring or teaching high school students, particularly those who may be behind academically or experiencing social/emotional challenges. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in lesson planning and teaching approaches. Ability to identify and adapt lessons to different learning styles. Understanding of trauma-informed or strengths-based approaches is an asset. Must be available to support Mondays-Thursdays shifts after 5:00 p.m.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 per hour
