About the Role



Rouse Surveyors Inc. is seeking an experienced Tunnel Surveyor (TBM & SEM) to join our dynamic team. This critical position ensures the accuracy and efficiency of all survey operations related to tunnel excavation and lining installation using the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) and Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology.

Working in a demanding underground environment, the Tunnel Surveyor will lead the surveying efforts for excavation, support installation, and data collection. This fast-paced role requires precision, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to changing work conditions.

Key Responsibilities



Conduct and oversee all surveying activities related to SEM and TBM tunneling processes. Perform surveys for tunnel excavation, formwork trolleys, invert construction, and cavern support. Operate and maintain survey equipment (total stations, multi-stations, laser scanners). Collaborate with the SEM team to ensure accurate excavation and proper installation of rock bolts, shotcrete, and linings. Ensure tunnel lining installation meets design specifications and tolerances. Monitor and record excavation progress, lining thickness, and surface profiles. Maintain control points and brackets to ensure uninterrupted production. Provide detailed shift reports and as-built documentation. Support and coordinate with other surveyors as needed. Adhere to strict safety protocols and attend all required safety training.

Qualifications



5-10 years of experience in construction surveying, preferably in tunnel or underground infrastructure projects. Solid knowledge of civil works and surveying practices. Proficient with survey equipment: total stations, multi-stations, and laser scanners. Familiarity with Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) principles is required. Previous experience working around TBMs, road headers, and heavy machinery. Ability to work rotating shifts in fast-paced, underground environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on quality control and safety. Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Experience with Leica surveying equipment preferred. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or surveying is considered an asset. Previous experience with SEM cavern excavation is highly desirable.

Pay: $34.00-$38.00 per hour
