Position Overview

Seeking a Truck Clerk, who will provide support for the Logistics operations for the district.

District Overview

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. The serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern Canada.

Location

This position is based out of Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Creating work schedules for drivers based on labor laws and other regulations.
  • Monitoring inventory levels of fuel and parts to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
  • Performing record-keeping functions such as maintaining files on shipping schedules, routes, cargo manifests, customer orders, driver information, and insurance coverage.
  • Coordinating with dispatchers to arrange for repairs of damaged equipment and vehicles.
  • Tracking freight costs and billing customers for services rendered.
  • Scheduling repairs for vehicles, trailers, and other equipment used for shipping and delivery.
  • Receiving bills of lading or other shipping documents from shippers and recording them in a logbook.
  • Preparing bills of lading and other shipping documents.
  • Tracking shipments via computerized systems or monitoring radios to ensure that they arrive on time.
Qualifications
  • Prior administrative support experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Solid skills with peripheral technology such as printers, digital cameras, scanners, and A/V equipment.
  • Previous track record of successfully meeting deadlines and project expectations.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, as needed.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence in important, sensitive information and materials.
  • Enthusiastic team player with an interest in helping the team stay connected and working effectively together.
