Title: Apprentice Truck & Transport Mechanic
Location: Miller Waste Systems \xe2\x80\x93 Dartmouth
Shift: Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Thursday from 2 pm to Midnight, & Fridays from 2 pm \xe2\x80\x93 6 pm
Reporting to: Shop Foreperson

Responsibilities:

• Registered Apprentice Truck & Transport Mechanic in NS (Apprenticeship Program).
• Prior fleet maintenance experience on heavy vehicles is an asset
• You will have the ability to diagnose and rectify faults
• Experience in repairing hydraulic and electrical systems
• Strong analytical skills & a strong problem solver
• Successful candidates will be mechanically inclined and possess an excellent work ethic
• In addition, the successful candidate should possess a strong desire to learn and an ability to apply that knowledge during their daily duties
• Must have your own tools (annual tool allowance is provided)
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Must be able to work within a team environment
• Must be flexible able to work late, weekends & holidays as needed
• Technical training on International, Mack, Freightliner, Cummins, etc. would be an asset
• Class 5 Drivers License, and Air Brake endorsement would be considered an asset

Requirements:
In the position of Apprentice Truck & Transport Mechanic your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• The service and repair of all Company vehicles.
• Repair waste vehicles and trucks, including hydraulics and electrical as well as shop maintenance.
• You will be required to conduct vehicle maintenance according to established MWS policies and procedures.
• Maintain all required records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Will also be required to clean the shop, paint rims, and generally maintain the appearance of the equipment.
• As an apprentice, you may be required to complete training assignments and homework assignments throughout your apprenticeship.
