Responsibilities
The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks Department requires a temporary full-time Truck Driver /Swamper 2 for approximately one (1) year. You will be responsible for truck driving, manual collection and disposal work involving tandem axle rear loader garbage trucks with a G.V.W. over 26,100 kg. As a member of a two-person crew, you will share equally in the truck driving and swamping duties during the collection of garbage and green can/yard trimmings. The work also includes the operation of auxiliary equipment, preparation of work records, public interaction and routine maintenance of the truck and equipment. You will also perform other duties which will include general labouring and driving assignments.
Requirements
You will have a valid Class 3 BC Driver's License with air brake endorsement, a proven safe driving record of a truck over 26,100 kg. G.V.W. (prior to any selection, applicants will be required to produce their driving record) and work experience demonstrating strength and agility to perform heavy physical labour work. Knowledge of City of North Vancouver streets and previous garbage and/or yard trimmings collection experience would be an asset.
Compensation
$35.69 per hour
(January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
Four 10-hour days per week between Monday and Friday or Five 8-hour days per week, Monday to Friday. The shifts commence at 7:00 a.m.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
