Job Description

We are looking for an individual that can contribute to our small team atmosphere and has experience with hiab cranes, flat beds, and refrigerated box trucks. Although the position is based on Vancouver Island our driver needs the flexibility to be able to do drops to our distributors in Vancouver and do farm loads in Fanny Bay, Powell River, and Tofino. Our current driver is retiring after 20years and would be staying on to train the individual before their retirement.

Class 3 drivers license or higher with air brakes certificate, and a clean driver's abstract A strong work ethic and the willingness to be flexible. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Strong time management skills; prioritizing, organizing, and problem solving. Consistent communication skills both verbal and written. Hiab crane operating experience. Organization skills for pallet loading, paperwork, and truck maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a commercial truck to transport goods and materials to designated locations
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, such as cranes, forklifts or other heavy machinery
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safety and proper functioning
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving, including maintaining a safe following distance and obeying speed limits
- Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency
- Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to coordinate pick-up and delivery times
- Complete necessary paperwork, such as delivery receipts and logbooks, accurately and in a timely manner
