Position Title: Trip Supervisor
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Job Type: Temporary Contract, Summer
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Variety Village, Scarborough ON
Rate: $21.50-$22.50 per hour based on experience and qualifications

Summary:
The Trip Supervisor oversees all off-site camp activities at Variety Village, ensuring safe, engaging, and well-organized experiences for campers and staff. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating trips, managing logistics and budgets, supervising staff on excursions, and maintaining strong communication with families and leadership. The Trip Supervisor ensures adherence to camp policies, responds confidently to behavioural or emergency situations, and supports the overall success of off-site programming. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and experience working with children and individuals with disabilities are essential for this position.#

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist Program Coordinators with instructor orientation.

Plan, book, and coordinate all camp outings, including locations and bus transportation if required. Track camp budgets, expenses, and credit card usage; collect, record, and file all receipts. Liaise with the Director to ensure budgets are accurate and up to date. Drive to and from trip sites if required and attend trips as needed. Supervise all instructors to ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities. Handle conflicts related to scheduling, camper behaviour, and parent concerns. Provide excellent customer service and communication with families and caregivers. Apply knowledge of disabilities and behaviour-support strategies to manage group dynamics. Coordinate and respond to emergency situations as needed. Assist with lunches or low-staff situations when required. Lead weekly staff meetings with the Supervisor Team to update instructors, address concerns, share observations, and coordinate strategies. Perform other related duties to support departmental and organizational needs.

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

Valid certification in CPR-C, First Aid, and AED (minimum requirement).

Supervisory experience in camp or recreational settings. Previous experience as a Head Camp Instructor or equivalent leadership role is required. Experience in integrated programming and working with individuals with disabilities. Strong knowledge of Variety Village camps and operations, including staffing rotations, pool fouling procedures, and camp scheduling. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to mentor staff. Dependable, reliable, and punctual. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Positive, proactive, and solution-focused approach to work. Participation in company training, including CPI and Plan to Protect.
