Full Time Tree Planter Contract - Training Opportunity

Objective of Position:
The Tree Planter will enjoy an experiential learning environment working as a valued member of the tree stewardship team. The role will support two of Reep Green Solutions' native tree planting initiatives: Our pilot Roadside Tree Planting Project, which will lead native afforestation efforts along regional and township roads; and our Backyard Tree Planting Program, which helps residents get the right tree in the right place with the right care. The role may also extend to other green infrastructure activities related to Tree Trust and stewardship events. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, has excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and enjoys physical work outdoors.

Conditions and Requirements:
Reliable access to a vehicle
Proof of current G driver's license, clean driving record, and insurance is required
CSA-approved safety boots
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
Ability to work in extreme weather outdoors doing physically demanding wor
Tasks & Responsibilities
Conduct tree planting at scheduled locations as part of the Roadside Tree Planting Program
Plan for and load daily required supplies
Assist with planting site preparation (weed trimming, staking)
Plant tree saplings in uneven terrain along rural roads
Assist with inventorying, daily activity documentation, and watering activities as needed
Conduct tree planting at scheduled locations as part of Backyard Tree Planting (BYTP) program
Adhere to planting guide manual provided at the start of the season
Water and mulch newly planted trees
Leave planting and care guide in customer's mailbox or accessible location
Water and maintain BYTP tree stock at seasonal staging site
Operating and maintaining planting equipment to ensure its longevity
Assist with ordering and processing residential utility locates
Support the implementation of detailed outreach, planting, and maintenance plans in coordination with municipal partners
Provide assistance with inventory counting and tracking of tree species
In addition to these responsibilities, other tasks may be added as required by the organization.
We're looking for someone with:
Tree planting/horticultural or professional landscaping experience is preferred
A diploma/degree in urban forestry, environmental studies or related field is an asset
A current Emergency First Aid + CPR certification an asset
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
Ability to work in extreme weather outdoors doing physically demanding work
Customer service experience
Excellent attention to detail
Experience working or volunteering with a not-for-profit organization is an asset
Demonstrated interest in and commitment to environmental issues
Courteous and cooperative attitude
Experience driving with a trailer is considered an asset
