The Opportunity

  • Supporting senior staff who manage different areas of our business with focus particularly on analysis of transit projects (using various tools) and pedestrian spaces using Arup\'s proprietary software, MassMotion.
  • Working collaboratively with peers to define and test alternative solutions.
  • Working autonomously, as context requires and thinking laterally to help solve challenging transport and access problems.
  • Contributing to team discussions regarding potential new areas of business and innovative ways to provide service to the market.
  • Attending project and client meetings supporting more senior staff.
  • Building external networks of peers.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development in consultation with your team leader.
  • Committing to Arup\'s induction processes and over time, learning about our broader business including other groups represented in Canada and elsewhere.
  • Helping to prepare high quality project deliverables, including print documentation and presentations.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Transportation or Regional Planning, Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering, or closely related discipline required.
  • Compelling verbal, written, and visual communication abilities, particularly in the crafting of planning and design narratives, including storytelling.
  • Some work experience in the transportation planning industry either through research applications or internships.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and the challenges and opportunities in the region regards transport and access.
  • Emerging project management skills and ability to provide examples.
  • Understanding of the nexus between data science and analysis, transport planning principles and urban resiliency.
  • Multi-disciplinary awareness, creativity, and technical curiosity.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
Preferred
  • Currently pursuing a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in urban planning, regional planning, transportation planning, architecture, engineering, or closely related disciplines.
  • Graphic design skills, specifically in relation to map design.
  • Bilingual in French and English (written and oral communication).
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA or higher.
