Transportation Operations Coordinator, Western Canada
Position Overview:
Working closely with the Regional Manager, Transportation and Operations West, the Transportation Operations Coordinator provides the support necessary to ensure that all Western transportation resources are adequately planned and effectively managed to meet our service standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide service excellence & support to our customers and vendors in internal and external business settings.
  • Collaborate with HD Associates, 3PL's, Outside Carriers, as well as THD Store partners; to effectively manage our transportation objectives with all stakeholders - as it relates to on time service, equipment utilization and effective cost control.
  • Actively manage the pools of transportation assets as they relate to our Western Operations [SFC, DFC, BDC, MDO], our Core Carrier's and Yard Storage Trailers; with respect to recertification, lease oversight and service/repair management.
  • Plan and coordinate seasonal Direct To Store programs [i.e. Ecowoods Mulch] with all key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relevant transportation & equipment reports, identify any improvement opportunities, and action plans to implement.
  • Facilitate the transfer of goods between facilities [store transfers/remediations] when required.
  • Provide oversight and financial reporting on 'special projects'.
  • Utilize quantitative skills to analyze, validate, adjust and manage varying amounts of data specific to problem solving and trend analysis reporting.
  • Provide activity specific financial reporting on weekly/monthly basis to support departmental cost control.
  • Coordinate communication regarding ad-hoc transport programs affecting Store and facility partners.
  • Improve daily transportation operations through process improvement methods, cross-functional design and implementation.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentation materials to manage Department KPI's.
  • Perform other logistics clerk and transport office duties, as required.
Competencies:
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with others from varied backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and collaborate well with others, both internal and external. Must be able to acquire new skills with minimal direction.
Skills:
  • Detail and task-oriented, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Highly proficient with computer software such as Excel and proficient in Microsoft office.

  • Post-Secondary certificate, or degree, is preferred.
