Job Description


Overview: Imperial Dade Canada, leading national distributor, has a job open in New Westminster, British Columbia. This position supervises the daily work schedules of all transportation drivers and warehouse employees. They are responsible for the combination of loading, shipping, and delivery of products. They will need to ensure the efficient operation and utilization of all transportation equipment, monitors cleanliness and working conditions of equipment and use analytical data and operational metrics to supervise drivers and equipment to meet delivery needs and minimize costs. This person will work with the routing team to improve delivery strategies and to achieve distribution objectives while meeting customer requirements. As well as maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all sales, management, customer service, office personnel, and customers.

The hours of this position is Monday to Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm PST Imperial Dade is the leading distributor of foodservice packaging, facilities maintenance supplies and equipment in the U.S. and Canada. Transportation Responsibilities:

  • Support and reinforce programs to ensure safety of all personnel, equipment, and property to comply with Transport Canada government regulations. Provides training and guidance as required.
  • Plan and coordinate work activities to transportation drivers and other team members.
  • Ensure that employees receive applicable training and skills development.
  • Provide direction for the loading of trucks and delivery of orders in conformance with best practices and procedural compliance, including vehicle weight restrictions.
  • Promote a positive teamwork environment between departments and employees. Delegate and distribute assignments and decisions appropriately.
  • Create and enables a work environment in which employees are welcomed to share ideas while accepting ownership that promotes teamwork and positive development.
  • Proactively work on productivity improvements, KPI metrics and initiatives while minimizing delivery costs.
  • Manage Trac POD and Geo Tab systems to manage driver compliancy, company policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for all shipping documentation, BOL Manifests trips and PODs.
  • Insure all appointments are scheduled for customer deliveries.
  • Insure all shuttle networks are managed with equipment and drivers.
  • Coordinate special deliveries (weekend after hours and special requirements).
  • Update compass system for delivery requirements.
  • Complete accident / incident investigations and internal reporting requirements.

Warehouse Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to all warehouse employees.
  • Promote a culture of safety at every opportunity with employees. Ensure safety procedures are being followed strictly and that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervise the daily work flow in the areas of order picking, receiving and truck loading.
  • Identify process improvements, increase efficiency and productivity to achieve budget targets and operational metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective internal and external customer service.
  • Ensure standard productivity and error standards are consistently met.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing training.
  • Assess manpower requirements necessary to maintain established service levels.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified candidates will have 5+ years’ supervisory experience in a transportation/operational/distribution environment.
  • A College Diploma or a equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred, within distribution, logistics and transportation.
  • Transportation routing experience.
  • Experience leading employees in a unionized work environment.
  • Experience in training, motivating, coaching employees.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and have excellent time management skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and customer relations skills.
  • Excellent leadership, customer relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate with Windows based software programs, Transportation tracking systems and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
