The responsibility of the Manager, Regional Transportation Ontario is to lead the regional operations transportation day to day operations in balancing its objective of driving cost-to-serve efficiencies, while meeting regulatory compliance requirements and customer experience expectations. As a member of the Regional Transportation leadership team, he/she will contribute in defining regional delivery network and carrier strategies and best-in-class processes in the areas of operational performance and regulatory compliance. He/she is required to engage with multiple key internal stakeholders such as Distribution Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory/Quality, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Legal and Finance, as well as external carrier partners.

  • Auditing carrier costs and billing with third party freight audit partner.
  • Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding transportation and ensures compliance to such regulations in the region. Oversees maintenance and accuracy of information on routes, rates and services within TMS.
  • Oversees planning and coordination of day to day delivery operations within TMS.
  • Manage execution of contracts with third-party carriers. Measure carrier performance by performing regular carrier audits to ensure providers meet McKesson Canada goals and objectives with respect to transportation activity.
  • Engages with multiple key internal stakeholders such as Distribution Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory/Quality, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Legal and Finance, at a regional level.
  • Manages regional day to day transportation activities through specialists- individual contributors.
  • Assist with the development of Regional Transportation department strategies, objectives and performance standards/metrics- accountable to implement and deploy in the region.
  • Support regional initiatives to drive financial performance by ensuring financial targets are met and identifies opportunities to drive cost-to-serve efficiencies.
  • Accountable to meet customers delivery expectations.
  • Directly manages a team of individual contributors. Accountable for the engagement level of all employees within span of control, including associates. Fosters a cohesive team unit and manages talent pipeline to enable organizational capabilities.
  • Acts as the escalation point for regional day to day operational decisions that will impact unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities and or performance.
  • Communicates organizational and functional strategy and translates it into functional goals for regional team.
  • Ensure to manage efficiently McKesson Fleet to secure our drivers and maintain our equipment in the best shape possible.
  • Respect all CVOR requirement
  • Accountable (with the Regional Director) for the financial results of the region
  • Use KPI to challenge the team and identify the opportunities
  • Continue to develop a continuous improvement culture supported by our Center of Excellence
  • Challenge the status quo by working with the different stakeholders to leverage tools, system, technology, and resource to improve our network
  • Act as a change management agent to support our Transformation
Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management (operations, logistics, supply chain) or Engineering (industrial) or related field is required.

Certification designation (CITT) is desirable.

5-10 years of progressive responsibilities in the areas of transportation, logistics or distribution, 1-5 years in a management role.

Experience in the pharmaceutical distribution industry or related regulated distribution industries and/or large scale national distributor/last mile transportation operations an asset.

Leadership - demonstrated ability to lead teams in a context of change and quickly establish credibility across the organization.

People Management - demonstrated ability to mobilize, coach and drive accountability with specialist and individual contributors.

Technology & Systems - demonstrated ability to operate and leverage technology solutions such as Transportation Management System (TMS) and Track and Trace solution.

Operational performance - Demonstrated ability to manage day to day operations to drive total cost-to-serve and network performance through operational KPI's.

Communication - demonstrated ability to proactively communicate operational updates with all levels of the organization and across functions.

Contract management - demonstrated ability in executing transportation service contracts and manage core and basic supplier relationships with regional partners.

Finance acumen to manage the P&L

Fleet management and driver management ability

Great communication skills

Written and oral fluency in English - French is an asset

Availability to travel within the region (up to 20%) is required.
