Your Opportunity
Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of bridge, rail, roadway, and transit projects. Our Edmonton, Alberta office is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer-in-Training who will provide technical design services for our Roadway, Rail and Transit and Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering teams. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work in a team environment and wants to be involved in exciting local, regional, national, and international projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
With guidance, perform geometric design and 3D modeling on a variety of roadway projects in both urban and rural environments
Support the development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as required
Assist with the preparation of engineering reports and technical studies, including basic calculations
Coordinate with other disciplines including structural, geotechnical, stormwater and streetlighting to ensure interdisciplinary design integration
Follow applicable standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures during the design process
Work to meet project timelines and budgets
Additional duties may include assisting with project coordination, project pursuits and proposal preparation
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment
Basic understanding of general civil design concepts in relevant areas
Basic understanding of modelling software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software or software savvy with aspirations to develop 3D modeling skillset
Knowledge of modelling software such as Infraworks or OpenRoads considered to be an asset
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Knowledge of traffic modeling software such as Synchro or VISSIM considered an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
Team player with a positive attitude
Education and Experience
Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field). Minimum of 0 - 2 years of industry experience.
Registered as an EIT in the Province of Alberta or ability to obtain within the next 6 months.
Position will primarily work in an office setting but may require some field work.
