Transportation Economist

Job Description




We are looking for a talented and motivated Economist to join our Edmonton team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact infrastructure and planning projects across Canada, working alongside engineers, planners, and policy experts. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in economic analysis and a passion for applying economic principles to real-world challenges.


Key Responsibilities




Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Conduct economic impact assessments, cost-benefit analyses, multiple account evaluations, and business case studies for infrastructure, transportation, and planning projects. Perform economic modelling and forecasting to support project evaluation and policy development. Research local and regional economic trends, including labor markets, education and skills development, social inclusion, and business investment. Provide strategic advice and recommendations to support urban and rural regeneration and economic development. Draft and prepare high-quality reports and presentations based on analysis and project outcomes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across projects, contributing strong technical insights and creative problem-solving. Support project delivery by providing technical input and assisting with project coordination; may mentor junior team members. Ensure work is delivered to the highest standards of quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications




Minimum Requirements




Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related discipline Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in applied economic analysis

Preferred Qualifications




Master's degree in Economics or a related discipline Experience working in consulting, public infrastructure, or government planning is considered an asset

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $100,000.00.
