Reporting to the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing the transportation of Wonderbrands deliveries within Canada. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, load dispatching, analyzing and planning routes, and optimizing shipments to various destinations. A primary focus of this role is ensuring on-time performance by making certain that loads are dispatched and delivered according to schedule. You will work with a network of more than 50 carriers operating company-owned or carrier-owned trailers.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Ensure on-time dispatch and arrival of loads by coordinating with key stakeholders, including shippers and carrier dispatchers
Develop a thorough understanding of the Wonderbrands national transportation network
Plan and schedule dry van and reefer shipments within the transportation network as required
Escalate service disruptions to leadership promptly when necessary
Mitigate delivery risks by proactively recovering loads impacted by network disruptions to maintain on-time delivery
Collaborate with Wonderbrands bakeries, distribution centers (DCs), and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) on load readiness, pick-up scheduling, and delivery appointments
Participate in daily regional operational calls with bakery teams, DCs, and supply planning teams
Manage trailer yard operations to ensure efficient movement and availability of equipment
Process carrier rates and invoices within the Transportation Management System (e2open/BlueJay)
Support the Tray Management Program, including tray rebalancing, returns, and inventory management
Maintain and update the trailer-mapping file to track asset locations accurately
Create transportation-related purchase orders as needed
Monitor fleet utilization and load status using GPS tracking tools (Blackberry)
Maintain and distribute transportation reports, including weekend status updates
About You:
Post-Secondary education from an accredited institution
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
Strong sense of urgency with a proactive approach to resolving issues
Capable of making independent decisions and executing tasks with minimal supervision
Collaborative team player who works effectively to achieve shared goals
Demonstrated personal accountability and commitment to team success
Professional phone etiquette and strong customer service skills
Highly organized with strong multitasking abilities; able to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Experience with Transportation Management Systems (e.g., e2open/BlueJay) is an asset
Experience with SAP, considered an asset
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Positive attitude and a results-oriented mindset
