Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc., acts as the Project Manager of Wataynikaneyap Power LP ("Wataynikaneyap Power"). Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission entity, majority-owned by a partnership of 24 First Nation communities in partnership with Fortis Inc. and other private investors. The partnership is an unprecedented undertaking and has constructed 1,800 kilometres of 230 kV, 115 kV, and 44 kV transmission lines and over 22 substations in northwestern Ontario. Transmission Lines Lead

Full-Time Permanent Position


The Transmission Lines Lead plays a key role in planning and executing transmission line inspections and maintenance, along with sustaining capital programs including access to Transmission Right of Ways. Reporting to the Director, Operations at Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., the incumbent will support the Operations and Engineering departments, as well as third-party contractors in any troubleshooting, outage, and emergency response activity (generally focusing on transmission lines) including the associated requirements for work protection and switching. A strong commitment to safety for self and others, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence is essential in all aspects of this role.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-Secondary education in one of the following:

+ Degree in a related Engineering discipline; registered in good standing as a licensed

Professional Engineer (P.Eng)

in Ontario is considered an asset;
+ Diploma in a related Engineering discipline; registered in good standing as a

Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.)

in Ontario is considered an asset;
+

Powerline Technician (PLT)

Certification of Qualification with Red Seal endorsement.

Ten (10) years'

related field experience preferred with a

minimum of five

(5) years' experience

in designing, constructing, inspecting and/or maintaining electrical distribution and/or transmission systems. Demonstrated experience coordinating contractor work programs and/or oversight of technical or trades staff. High-level of respect for Indigenous Peoples and their culture, language, traditions. Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset: + Working in a regulated electrical utility environment.
+ Travelling to and working in remote areas with challenging access. (Helicopter, ATV, boat, etc)
+ IHSA Electrical Utility Safety Rules and Utility Work Protection Code.
+ Federal and provincial environmental regulations applicable to utility operations in Northern Ontario.
Advanced, demonstrated experience, utilizing document management, GIS and MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of safe work methods, components, tools, and equipment related to line inspection, and maintenance.
Exercise sound judgement and discretion, with strong communication skills, and attention to detail. Candidates who speak/understand Anishinaabe or Anishininiimowin and/or have meaningful experience working with or for First Nation communities in Northwestern Ontario (preferred). Must have a valid Ontario "

G

" driver's license and maintain a clean driver's abstract. Some travel will be required for job duties.
