Competitive salary

with regular salary reviews ensuring we reward at the right level in line with the market. Salary range for this position is CAD 97,000 - 119,000 per year. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Typical Responsibilities

Support engineering projects by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing engineering calculations, developing detailed plan and profile design drawings, and modeling using the highly specialized, custom-purpose software: PLS-CADD Prepare technical engineering reports and memos Design structures for high voltage transmission lines using PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER Engineer transmission line projects from the 'definition phase' through the 'implementation phase Prepare staged design review packages in accordance with client standards and maintain detailed documentation of designs and calculations Undertake in-depth analysis/studies of problems, identify solutions, and prepare reports to support studies/recommendations Provide technical advice and guidance to design engineers Proactively monitor project engineering schedules and manage budgets for assigned projects Provide procurement support by preparing material specifications, requisitions, scope documents, material take-offs, and technical evaluations of bids Provide construction support and overall project engineering coordination during installation and commissioning with the client and subcontractors Respond to information requests from site and complete project documentation including as-builts, calculations, and return of data to the client. Maintain and enhance relationships with internal groups, external contractors, and clients Travel and visit project sites during project definition and execution Support management in planning, business development, proposals, performance evaluations, and appraisals Develop and implement specifications, standards, templates, and engineering tools

Expected:

Transmission, Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for registration with EGBC. 5 plus years of transmission line engineering experience is required. Proven experience within a Transmission and Distribution Utility or EPC organization designing transmission lines utilizing PLS-CADD/PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE is required. Knowledge of electrical aspects of power transmission system. Knowledge of transmission line materials (structures, conductors/OHSW, OPGW/ADSS, insulators, hardware accessories and fittings). Direct experience on the safety aspects of the design of high voltage transmission lines. Construction support experience for Transmission projects.
