How You\xe2\x80\x99ll Make an Impact:

Position Overview

You will ensure accurate translation, editing and proofreading of printed and online Marketing material for our French speaking clients. You will provide support to the Manager Translation Services in maintaining the quality of translations done by other translators internally and externally, by proofreading external material and ensuring Fidelity standards are met. You will also contribute to the development of other translators and keeps abreast of new terminology and does extensive research to ensure the quality of communications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Translate accurately all marketing documents, including but not limited to, retail and institutional sales support material, advertising campaigns and press releases, using the translation software Trados, government databases and the appropriate dictionaries.
  • Research terminology as required using the various sources available and maintain a glossary. Keep abreast of new terminology through French papers to ensure the quality meets the expectations of the audience.
  • Proofread material translated by external translators to ensure that the quality of French language meets Fidelity\'s standards. Provide support to the Manager as required.
  • Provide support to the Manager in ensuring the quality control and raise any issues regarding quality of material.
  • Contribute to improving the translations quality and support the Manager in training other staff to meet the requirements and French communication standards.
  • Ensure French materials meet the compliance and legal requirements.
What We\xe2\x80\x99re Looking For:

Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of translation experience, preferably in the financial industry or a related industry.
Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Translation from a recognized institution - or equivalent experience
  • Membership of a recognized professional association such as the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario or the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interpr\xc3\xa8tes du Qu\xc3\xa9bec (ATIO, OTTIAQ) would be an asset.
The Expertise You Bring:
  • Excellent knowledge of the French and English languages.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and terminology.
  • Ability to translate in both languages with accuracy and appropriate style.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Trados and and GlobalLink softwares.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction.
