Summary
We are seeking a Transit Systems Coordinator to support the design, construction, and software-related activities and databases for BSCGP Systems. This role involves coordinating with Designers, Integrators, Assessors, Vendors, and Subcontractors to ensure that all design and construction processes, deliverables, products, and materials-including software, firmware, licenses, and version-controlled components-comply with project requirements. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the configuration management of software and hardware systems within the transit industry.
Responsibilities
Contribute to both the Systems Design team and the Systems Construction Support team.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Manage, document, and follow up on hardware and software artifacts across both Systems and Non-Systems disciplines.
Support the Systems Configuration Manager in engaging with System and Non-System Designers to expedite reviews, modifications, and approvals, and to resolve technical issues.
Oversee the full software development lifecycle-including design, coding, testing, deployment, and validation-ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
Utilize tools such as IBM ClearQuest, Procore, Aconex, and Bluebeam to track and manage design and software changes, maintaining consistency and traceability.
Maintain and manage system logs, trackers, shop drawings, reports, and project databases to systematically resolve issues.
Review and coordinate drawings from Systems Designers, distributing them to subcontractors and suppliers for the development of installation and shop drawings.
Manage the review and approval process for system-related technical documents, including SCRs, FCRs, RFIs, SPEDs, and NCRs.
Extract and report quantities for various system elements of the project.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including systems engineers, project managers, and quality assurance personnel to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software solutions within the transit system.
Maintain thorough documentation of software configurations, changes, and testing procedures to support maintenance and compliance efforts.
Provide user support and coordinate access to the project's electronic information management systems.
Requirements
5-8 years' experience in systems engineering, systems hardware/software, or coordination-ideally in transit or transportation.
Experience in large-scale industrial or transit projects; P3 and SkyTrain experience are assets
Understanding of quality management systems and systems engineering processes.
Degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent technical training and experience.
Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment, and software involved in the construction of communications, security and building automation systems
Skilled in writing clear instructions for contractors.
Familiar with CENELEC standards, Canadian Electrical Code, Procore, Aconex, IBM ClearQuest, configuration management, and relevant safety regulations and requirements.
