Job Description

Creates, maintains, and updates transit routes/maps, detour signage, pocket timetables/schedules, and related internal and operational materials to support transit operations and service. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Technical skill and experience using software applications such as the Adobe Suite of programs (e.g., Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat), normally acquired through a 2-year diploma in a related field plus 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience such as a related certificate plus 2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of file conversion standards and HTML. Ability to link website pages and documents.
• Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, corporate communication style guidelines, legislation, and industry guidelines (e.g., copyright, accessibility).
• Attention to detail, organizational/time management, and problem solving skills to troubleshoot and rework files for print/online format; and prioritize work to meet service standards.
• Ability to work independently and respond to requests in a timely manner to support up-to-date information reaching the public.
• Communication skills to respond to inquiries/requests from internal clients, provide input on communication projects and changes in technology, and participate as an effective team member.
• Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read and understand technical and procedural manuals. Ability to proofread and edit materials.
• May be required to alter schedule to assist with promotional events, and may be requested to work some weekends for same.
• Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
• Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
