Position Overview

Voyago Paratransit Drivers provide superior customer service and work closely with individuals with special needs. Drivers are required to aid passengers boarding the bus, maneuvering wheelchairs, fastening Q-Straint belts, lifting portable assistive devices, and assisting ambulatory passengers. The Paratransit Driver ensures all passengers, devices and mobility aids are restrained and secure as well as provide passengers with information on fares, schedules, and stops. A manifest is provided daily and Drivers are required to have a solid geographical knowledge of the City of St. Thomas to ensure efficient routing.

Conventional Transit Drivers are responsible for driving along preassigned routes and adhering to a preexisting schedule. Customer service and time management skills are essential for this role.

Requirements:

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

Candidates should ideally demonstrate the following:

• Possess G, B, E, or F Licence (or willing to upgrade to \'F class\' licence at not cost to applicant)
• Possess clean drivers abstract and obtain a recent copy for a driver file.
• Possess clear criminal record search with vulnerable sector check and provide a recent copy
• Display safe and defensive driving techniques.
• Ability to work independently.
• Have a sound knowledge of the City of St Thomas and be capable of planning own routing
• Be available to work flexible hours. (service runs 7 days per week)
• Be physically capable of performing bus washing duties
• Must have own transportation to work
