Position Overview




Temporary position until January 30, 2027, approximately.



This position is responsible to complete pre-analytic and post-analytic process for transfusion medicine.



Key duties include:

Orders, receives, verifies, redistributes, and stores blood/blood products in prescribed conditions; Tracks blood/blood product inventory, monitors expiry dates, and arranges for blood/blood product disposal; Prepares blood/blood products for send outs, completes documentation, and coordinates with courier times; Documents lab and equipment conditions, reports outliers, completes preventative maintenance, and cleans/disinfects works areas and equipment; Log specimens for bone and eye bank.

Basic Requirements



College diploma from a recognized program or successful completion of MLPAO or successful completion of CSMLS exam in the appropriate field of practice; Minimum of three years of relevant experience; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the Transfusion Medicine Laboratory Technician provides front-line services to patients/clients and interacts with family/friends of patients/clients at point of care; Strong attention to detail; Knowledge of medical laboratory theory, principles and practices; Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation; transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, Universal precautions, safe handling practices.


As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

Rotation/Shifts
