Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Admissions and Transfer Credit, this position is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting applicants' academic histories--both domestic and international--to determine eligibility for transfer credit and credential recognition. Working in alignment with agreements listed on the Transfer Alberta website and College policies, the Officer ensures accurate, fair, and consistent evaluation practices that support learners on their academic pathways.
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of transfer credit operations within the College's Student Information System (SIS), including maintaining data integrity, monitoring and updating transfer credit records, training stakeholders, and developing clear procedures that make the process accessible and transparent. A key part of the role is providing timely support to prospective students, staff, and academic departments by triaging transfer-related questions, advising on Letters of Permission, and facilitating prior learning recognition processes. In addition, this position collaborates with academic departments and Marketing and Recruitment to ensure transfer credit information is accurately represented in the Academic Calendar, on the College website, and through related communications.
This role also involves contributing to College-wide recruitment and engagement initiatives by participating in events such as open houses and transfer credit fairs, while maintaining a strong commitment to continuous improvement. The Officer keeps current with trends in credential evaluation, adheres to Pan-Canadian standards, and ensures Bow Valley College maintains its leadership in providing fair and transparent academic recognition services.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree and have 1-2 years of related experience, ideally in a post-secondary environment. Knowledge of the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer and the Alberta transfer credit system is required, along with demonstrated strength in student service and client support. Preferred qualifications include experience with integrated student information systems, advanced skills in Microsoft Office, knowledge of domestic and international post-secondary systems, and a solid understanding of enrolment management practices.
Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, cross-functional collaboration skills, and knowledge of Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) are essential for success in this role. This role is on campus 50% of the time, with on campus days Monday and Friday and one additional day every second week.
If you are passionate about supporting learners in achieving their educational goals and thrive in a collaborative, detail-driven environment, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity at Bow Valley College.
If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
Closing Date: October 7th, 2025
This opening is a temporary (AUPE) position, with an anticipated conclusion in February, 2026. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
