"This posting is for two (2) full-time temporary positions: one ending on or before October 30, 2026, and the second may be extended up to 18 months in accordance with Section 18.02 of the Collective Agreement."
The Edmonton Police Service has an opportunity for two (2) Curriculum Designers in our Professional Development Section to assume the following responsibilities:

• Designing and developing classrooms, eLearning and blended learning courses. Courses developed must employ instructional techniques and evaluation methods that are grounded in the principles of adult education.
• Conducting needs assessments, formulating project plans, researching course content, and designing instructional techniques and evaluation methods.
• Collaborating with instructors, subject matter experts and other curriculum designers on the coordination, research and development of curriculum packages (course manuals detailing course overview information, lesson plans, course training standards and evaluation methods), and preparing subject matter experts to be facilitators on training courses.
• Maintaining partnerships with external agencies and training institutions in creating educational opportunities for Edmonton Police Service members.
• Arranging for and conducting coaching and advisory sessions with subject matter experts to discuss expectations and standards in the development of course training standards and course material.
• Providing recommendations on the design and delivery methods of courses as a curriculum design specialist.
• Designing and preparing instructional aids, such as training manuals, handouts, and PowerPoint presentations for courses.
• Designing and preparing eLearning content as stand-alone modules or pre-course work for in person courses.
• Other related duties.

Qualifications

• University graduation from a recognized program in education, such as a Bachelor of Education Degree.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the field of adult education and/or developing course curricula.
• Demonstrated development of eLearning using Articulate Storyline and comparable design software.
• Demonstrated use of learning management software for course development and delivery (i.e. Canvas, Moodle, D2L, etc.).
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office are required.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Must be able to work independently and in collaboration with others and as part of a team.

Experience in developing hard skill training or systems training for front line professionals (for example, military, law enforcement or other first
response personnel) is an asset. * Strong skills with Adobe Suite would be an asset.

• Strong ability to provide guidance and advice to subject matter experts to prevent conflicting training goals.
• Applicants may be tested, and samples of work may be requested, specifically eLearning products, Course Training Standard and/or course planning documentation.

Hours of Work:
40 hours a week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.
Salary Range:
21B, Grade 021: $38.01 - $47.78 (Hourly), $3,041.50 - $3,823.00 (Bi-Weekly), $79,383.67 - $99,779.26 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
