Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Training Officer, this position is responsible for assisting in promoting and supporting a corporate culture of continuous learning by contributing to the City's strategic objectives for service excellence. This includes designing, delivering, evaluating and monitoring training curriculum/programs to successfully prepare Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service staff to deliver safe and efficient services to our residents. The Training Officer will co-ordinate and conduct fire training programs to establish competence for specific licensing, certifications, upgrading and/or renewals as assigned. You will be responsible for assessing staff performance; evaluating training programs and initiatives and recommending innovative changes/enhancements to meet department needs. Recording/maintaining current, accurate records of conducted training. Gathering and analyzing training data as required. Remaining current on national, provincial and local requirements in the field of fire training education, as well as technological changes to improve effectiveness of training. Assessing staff performance by upholding professional competency and development.
