About the position
Haywood Securities Inc. is seeking a
Training and Education Specialist
to join our team in either our Vancouver or Toronto offices. Reporting to the VP, Compliance, you will be primarily responsible for identifying training requirements and needs, design, development and delivery of training and education sessions (courses), and evaluating their effectiveness to satisfy regulatory requirements in Canada for the Haywood Training & Education Program ("TEP").
Responsibilities include:
Support the VP Compliance in the design and development of a Haywood TEP structured to satisfy CIRO Rules:
Proficiency principle as it related to dealer training (section 2602)
Post-approval proficiency requirements (section 2604) which includes dealer training within 90 days, dealer ongoing training, and records of all training provided (subsection 2604(1)
Assess training requirements and needs, for all client types and product types applicable to the dealer
In collaborating with business line experts, ongoing design, development and delivery of training and education sessions (courses) to registrants in accordance with the Haywood TEP
Support the development of a process, or implementation of a system, for recording dealer training requirements, and maintaining the books & records (tracking) of completion of dealer training session (courses)
Assessment and accredit TEP sessions (courses) for CIRO Continuing Education, and preparation and delivery of TEP sessions (courses) completion certificates.
Effective notification to registrants of pending dealer training requirements, and monitoring of incomplete training for escalation for applicable remediation
Stay abreast of regulatory requirements, new trends and tools in efficient/effective training programs
Periodically, and no less than annual, review of each TEP sessions (courses), and provide recommendations for the overall Haywood TEP to the VP, Compliance, to ensure effective and efficient learning outcomes aligned with regulatory requirements
Requirements:
Education and Qualifications
2 - 5 years education/training experience; 1 year industry experience an asset
+ Ability to critically assess methods of training delivery, i.e. outside experts, training software, internal staff
+ Intellectual understanding of the firm's business and the proficiencies required to execute that business Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and database navigation
Experience with preparing or providing training; experience utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) is a benefit
Key Skills and Attributes
Strong and effective communication skills and customer service skills; ability to effectively interact with a variety of personality types
Needs to have sufficient leadership skills and be a self-starter
Ability to liaise with compliance and the business units to develop & implement the firm's yearly training plans
Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
Ability to maintain a high level of cognitive awareness of his/her surroundings in a fast paced/multi-task environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
