The International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations (IFALPA) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization representing over 148,000 professional pilots from 74 countries.
For almost 75 years, the mission of IFALPA has been to promote the highest level of aviation safety worldwide and to be the global advocate of the piloting profession, providing representation, services, and support to both our members and the aviation industry.
To support its activities IFALPA is hiring a full-time Training and Regional Implementation Officer at IFALPA headquarters (Montreal - Canada).
About the job
Reporting to the IFALPA Managing Director and under the guidance of the EVP Administration, Membership and Finance, the Training and Regional Implementation Officer supports, coordinates, and enhances the Federation's training activities and regional engagement.
The candidate will play a key role in the design, delivery, and strategic coordination of IFALPA's internal and external training programs. This includes working closely with instructors, Member Associations, and international partners to ensure high-quality, accessible, and relevant training content.
The position also includes supporting IFALPA's regional activities, assisting in the coordination of input to ICAO regional meetings and contributing to advocacy efforts. Success in this role requires strong project management skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
While deep aviation expertise is not a prerequisite, the ideal candidate will have experience in managing training portfolio and will demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to learning. They must be comfortable working independently, managing multiple deadlines, and proactively engaging with subject matter experts to develop and deliver impactful training solutions.
Key Responsibilities
A - Training (50%)
1. Training Strategy & Programme Support
Support the delivery and development of IFALPA's training strategy in alignment with the Federation's strategic goals.
Assist in identifying training needs across IFALPA Standing Committees, Regional Structures, and Member Associations.
Manage the training budget and ensure its finacial sustanabilty
2. Material Development
Collaborate with IFALPA officers, technical experts and committee members to design and update training modules, workshops, and learning content.
Ensure materials reflect current ICAO standards, industry best practices, and IFALPA policies.
3.Training Coordination and Delivery
Organize and facilitate training events.
Coordinate logistics, instructor engagement, and participants attendance and follow-up in collaboration with relevant departments.
4. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
Collect and analyze feedback to assess training effectiveness and relevance.
Recommend and implement improvements to content, delivery methods, and participant engagement.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration
Manage and develop training partnership with external stakeholders.
Serve as a point of contact for training-related inquiries and requests.
6. Documentation and Administration
Maintain training records, participant lists, and resource libraries.
Maintain the collaborative platform
Contribute to reporting and knowledge management with the Professional & Government Affairs (PGA) and Technical teams.
Coordinate with IFALPA communications team to promote training
7. Innovation and Best Practices
Stay informed on developments in adult and professional learning, e-learning platforms, and international training standards.
Propose innovations to enhance the accessibility, inclusivity, and impact of IFALPA's training offerings.
B- Regional Support (50%)
Assist the Regional Executive Vice President(s) in coordinating ICAO meetings and other regional engagements
Act as a liaison between IFALPA HQ and regional representatives
Help track regional priorities and ensure alignment with the Federation's broader strategy
Coordination of cross regional initiatives
The successful candidate must possess and demonstrate:
Bachelor's degree in Education, International Relations, Aviation, or related field
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in training coordination and instructional design
Demonstrate experience in program and/or project management
Experience working in an international or cross-cultural environment
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines with minimal supervision
High level of professionalism and integrity and confidentiality
Service-oriented mindset and prioritize teamwork.
Proactive problem-solving abilities
Commitment to continuous learning
Ability to work cohesively with colealgues and IFALPA members as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Fluent in English (written and spoken), additional languages are an asset
Assets
Knowledge of non-profit organizations, pilots' associations or unions.
Familiarity with the aviation sector or aviation-related organizations
Experience collaborating with regulatory bodies or industry stakeholders
Knowledge of adult ad professional learning principles or instructional design methodologies
Previous experience in regional or global training deployment
Location
The position will be based at IFALPA Headquarters which is currently in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The candidate is expected to be present at the office at least 3 days a week.
Travel
The role involves regular international travel. The candidate should be capable of securing travel authorizations at short notice and be prepared for frequent travel, typically ranging from 20% to 30% of the time.
