About the role Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Trainer/Assessor, Fixed Plant to join the Training team at the Diavik Diamond Mine. Reporting to the Superintendent, Training and based at the Lac de Gras mine site working a two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off rotation, you will provide dedicated training to support the Processing Operations function as well as provide additional training across the operations. Working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be responsible for:
  • Conducting Process-area training which includes, theoretical classroom-based training and in-field practical training, specific to processing operations areas;
  • Conducting theoretical and practical assessments to validate employee knowledge, skills and competency;
  • Administering written examinations and assignments;
  • Coordinating training plans with employees and supervisors;
  • Monitoring, coaching and following up with employees throughout the training process;
  • Based on requirements from approved training matrices, identifying, scheduling and following-up on outstanding training requirements;
  • Ensuring proper training documentation is created and accurately maintained;
  • Assisting in consistently monitoring training content and updating materials to accurately reflect applicable procedures, equipment and process flows; and
  • Developing and reviewing training material with SMEs, as required.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A strong safety mindset and a proven track record
  • Minimum of five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in processing operations, ideally in diamond mining
  • Previous experience providing other industrial training programs such as Confined Space, Fall Arrest, Hoisting & Rigging, and similar programs preferred
  • Becoming a Master Instructor, or similar Train-the-Trainer certification, an asset
  • A team-oriented philosophy and a commitment to supporting and developing others
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple manner so that learners can effectively grasp concepts
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to improve processes and increase efficiency
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
